Auditions for Ardmore Little Theatre’s first show of the 2020-2021 season, “A Piece of my Heart” a drama by Shirley Lauro, will be Monday and Tuesday, August 24 & 25, 2020 at 7:00pm at the Goddard Center.   Please enter by the stage door on the North side of the building. Masks are required and temperatures will be taken as you come in.  Hand sanitizer will be available. Scripts are available for check out at the ALT office, but please remember ALL scripts must be returned to ALT the first night of auditions. Volunteers are always welcome to work on set construction, props, and other backstage areas.  Everyone is encouraged to participate. You do not have to be a member of ALT to be involved in the production.

Joh Mann will be directing this show for Ardmore Little Theatre. She has directed many plays for ALT; “Dearly Beloved”, “Over the River and Through the Woods”, “Murdered to Death”, “Almost, Maine” and last year’s “Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” to name just a few. Performances will be October 1 – 4, 2020 at the Goddard Center. All performances are at 7:00pm, except for the Sunday matinee at 2:30pm.

SYNOPSIS: An absorbing and moving experience about a tumultuous period in American history, is told in the powerful, true story of six women who went to Vietnam — five medical nurses, plus a singer who entertained the troops. Each is revealed before, during, and after her stressful life in the ravaged nation.  Ending at the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., this striking drama is a salute to the men and women who served our country during a deeply divisive time.  

Characters (1-3 males, 6 females)
MARTHA— any age to play ages 22-42. Strong, self-composed, aura of self-discipline, military bearing. Strong pioneer type and very American.
MARYJO – any age to play ages 17 – 37. Pretty, outgoing, bubbly personality. Texas accent. Sexy. Funny comedienne quality but sad inside. Must sing. Prefer skillful guitarist and singer but guitar playing is optional.
SISSY – any age to play ages 20-40. Sweet, feminine, outgoing, a strong sense of fun. Warm personality.
WHITNEY — any age to play ages 21 – 41. Tall, slender, withdrawn, contained, very aristocratic in bearing and quality. A Vassar graduate.
LEEANN — any age to play ages 20-40. Asian or American. Attractive, strong, tough, determined in nature. An urban, hip quality to her personality.
STEELE — any age to play ages 35 – 55. Black or Latina. Extremely strong, military bearing. Very intelligent, outgoing, great sense of humor. A pragmatist. Southern.
THE AMERICAN MEN — Plays ages 18-60. Tall, very American looking. A versatile actor needed for a variety of roles.
